Rago Wright: Important Italian Glass

Wright is pleased to present Important Italian Glass at auction on December 13th. This carefully curated sale includes works from the 1920s through the 60s from M.V.M. Cappellin, Venini, Seguso, Barovier and Aureliano Toso among others. With pieces culled from various international collections, this edition of Important Italian glass presents a concise look at Murano glass of the 20th century from the island’s most prominent furnaces and designers. Highlights include an exceptionally rare Pennellate vase designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini in 1942 and two splendid examples from the Primavera series, designed by Ercole Barovier in 1929-30. The sale offers an unusual and sculptural vase by Tomaso Buzzi, Carlo Scarpa Fenicio designs from the 1930’s, magnificent Barovier Intarsio works from the 1950s and 60s, an Incalmo vase by Thomas Stearns and a Merletto vase from the master designer and blower Archimede Seguso.
